Kevin Scaman

Before joining Fundamental, Kevin was a research scientist at Inria Paris and a part-time Associate Professor at École Polytechnique. His research in machine learning spans from theoretical advances in key aspects of deep learning, including robustness, decentralized learning, and training via non-convex optimization, to practical implementations of graph neural networks extending their expressive power and robustness. Previously, he led an optimization-for-ML research team at Huawei’s machine learning lab in Paris and received a NeurIPS 2018 Best Paper Award for his work on distributed optimization.

 

At Fundamental, Kevin is part of the research team and focuses on extending the capabilities of tabular foundation models, bringing his experience in structured data, optimization, and scalable learning to build models that can reason about tabular data and take advantage of their complex structure.

David Louapre

AI Scientist & Educator at hugging face

David holds a PhD in theoretical physics, specializing in quantum gravity. He worked at Saint-Gobain, first on machine learning and then as a project leader across several R&D efforts in materials science. In 2018, he went on to become scientific director at the video game company Ubisoft, where he explored the interplay between science and game design, notably integrating large language models (LLMs) into non-player characters. In 2025, he joined Hugging Face, working on open science in language models and robotics. He also created "Science Étonnante", a science outreach Youtube channel with more than 1.5M subscribers.
